Excellent book! I've had this book for many years now and have used the suggestions over and over again and they still work (of course having to adjust based on age appropriate rewards and consequences). I highly recommend every parent read this book, memorize the theories and then put the theories into practice. You'll raise kids who understand that life doesn't revolve around them all the time (I read this book when my youngest was about 3 years old. My boys are now 18 and 16 years old). I don't care what kind of issues you tell me your child has (mine has ADHD. He also had temper tantrums WELL beyond the terrible 2s, and was completely inflexible about everything he wanted). This book has been my secret to success.
