Before starting your car, give the hood of your car a few taps to make sure that a cat has not hidden underneath the car or inside the engine for warmth. Do not use antifreeze, which is toxic and deadly, in an area accessible to cats. Refrain from using salt or chemicals to melt snow. These can be lethal when licked off paws or ingested from melting puddles. They also hurt cats’ paw pads. Spaying and neutering improves cats' overall health, and healthier cats are better equipped for the cold elements. SIZING- Our feral cat house is larger than others, the outer dimension:29.5" L X 21.6"W X 29"H, and the inner dimension: 27. 5"L x 17. 5"W x 20"H, front door: 8"W X 10"H, escape door: 8"W X 9"H. Roomy enough for 2-3 adult cats & 4-5 kittens. So that is a good choice to provide a warm home for feral cats!
STURDY-There are two-side hinged asphalt roof on feral cat house, constructed by 12mm Finnish spruce panels. Poor materials are always easy to break in bad weather, such as sun exposure in summer, rain and snow in winter, this will make any efforts we make to stray cats go to waste, so we are more willing to work on thickened materials to ensure that the cat houses can cool down in summer and keep warm in winter.
Protection-The feral cat house offers extra escape door with an only-out flap would prevent cats from being trapped. Enclosure walls are made up by boards milled with angles to precisely fit well for keeping inside dry. The raised floor (6” tall) with plastic feet protects against decay from rain.
Details-Removable floor is easy to clean feral cat house. Come with an additional stair deck for cats to rest and a cute flower box for planting catnip or flowers. Assemble with ease by pre-drilled holes. There are also holes on the floor for cord of heating pad to get through.
Tip of Use-Cat nip or a warm blanket/heating pad would help invite cats to come in. Face the front door towards your house/wall to protect from wind and rain better.
CONS: When arrived cardboard box it came in needs to be thicker a corner of it had been torn off and was worried some pieces might have been missing. thankfully none were. A better job could have been done packaging the bolts and screws as half of the had come off the paper card holders but were packaged in a plastic bag so none were loose in the box. The wood needs more paint on it the paint reminded me of water color paint. PROS: The house is easy to assemble once the bolts and screws are tighten down the house is pretty sturdy the wood is sturdy also but not to heavy to pick up and move the cat house around. I like the flower box it allows for items to placed in it if you don't want to put plants in it. My cat is 13 to 15 pounds so there is plenty of room for him, Aside from some of the CONS I'm very pleased with my purchaseBig, Sturdy, & Easy to put together!I was a little concerned when it was delivered because the box was heavy. But I opened it and just started following instructions. I am very pleased with it. My feral cat "Miss Daisey" likes it too.this is 2 cat approved- although neither has figured out how to go out the back door. Taz likes to sit on top and peek in the window to let me know it's feeding timeI did a great deal of research to find the perfect kitty house for an outdoor cat that seems to have adopted me. I was quite please that my diligent research paid off with this wonderful kitty home. I moved into a new home and noticed a cat occasionally on my deck. I started to feed it and it continued to wait for me to come home from work every day to greet me. I live alone so it was nice to have someone happy for my return. My granddaughter is very allergic to cats so brining it inside wasn't an option. With the upcoming hurricane I wanted to find one that would look nice on my deck and provide the best comfort and protection from the elements. I was drawn to the fact it was made of cedar, and the pictures showed a real roof for protection, and it appeared to be roomy. I got the house in the nick of time cause the storm was upon us the next day. I was able to put it together quickly, but has some difficulty finishing up the details as illustrated in the pics. The few cons I have about the house is the sparse instructions. Most of it was straight forward but had difficulty putting on the eave. Unless I'm missing something, the screws are not long enough. I will need to purchase longer screws for the eave to be added. The eave is a great design feature for the rain. The one thing I really did like was how organized the hardware was and easily shown in the instructions. I did not have a drill so I was not able to finish up securing the roof, but added heavy rocks on top so it would blow off - then I realized I didn't want to make it permanent for ease of cleaning and adding the kitty heater and blankets. I love how the house is raised off the ground. I live in NC and there are a few cold days here so I purchase some rigid insulation that I can add and take out with keeping the roof removable for ventilation. The first start of rain the kitty was in the house and the first cold night I set up the heater with a few blankets and kitty has been content in its new home from morning thru night. Not only is it attractive, but it makes me happy to give a stray kitty a nice home.We are about to be hit with this deep freeze that’s all over the news. I bought 2 of these boxes months ago for our feral cat friends but unfortunately they are not made for this brutally cold weather. BUT in a pinch I’ve successfully turned them into warm and weatherproof cat boxes! This is only a temporary fix to get through this freeze and the next 2 months.See attached photos. I’ve created an insulated box within the box itself. 1” insulation board on the floor, walls, and ceiling. I also added a heated K&H bed and a thin fleece. Straw is always preferable but I haven’t been able to find it locally & need this box done today. Thin fleece won’t hold water like other blankets or towels and the heat from the bed will dry out any moisture. The purpose of the fleece is that the weight of the blanket warms up the bed & will keep it warm to the touch. Without weight on the bed it will get cold. Keeping the bed warm increases the ambient temperature & the bed will be far more warm & comfortable in sub zero temps. Please note, without the heated bed I would only use straw to keep moisure off the cat. Imagine being outside in subzero temps and wrapping up in a wet blanket. Not good and likely deadly. There are a few problems with this cat box design so I had to get creative. First, there are paw shaped cut outs on the sides of the box and on the rear window. Cute... but pointless and & rain/snow gets inside so I wrapped the House in 3m window insulation plastic. It keeps water out, protects the untreated wood, and adds another thin insulating layer. I used indoor/outdoor Gorilla duct tape to secure the plastic, taped to the inside and underneath the box. See photos. The front of the cat box is left wide open and the little roof oning is insufficient, rain sprays inside at the front of the box. To remedy this I left some room between the front cat door and the front of the insulated inner box so that the bed stays dry.I also insulated the rear window separately for extra insulation... it’s a thin plastic window with a hole in it. I did this in addition to wrapping the entire box in the plastic.Once the roof is screwed down you will need to caulk everywhere that the shingled roof meets a wood edge including the wood strip down the center. Without caulk I suspect the roof may leak. This box, before modifiying, is probably best to be placed on a porch with an overhang or somewhere protected from the rain & elements. It’s not waterproof, definitely not sufficient for cold weather. We do not have a covered porch so these modifications should do the trick until the weather breaks and I can permanently modify the boxes for long term use. Hope this helps! This thing is beautiful and sturdy . It has served its purpose for us and our cats that sometimes get stuck ut in inclement weather in the Northeast United States! We did paint it to help preserve the wood. Also lined it with insulation and plan to use a heater for our Indiana winters. This house is next to our patioDoor and under the roof so it is out of the rain and wind. Would not be a comfort to animals out in the weather. Nice size for two adult cats.Super achat! ;-DFalling apart. Rusty screws, delaminating shingles, splitting wood; requires seasonal upkeep. Paint wears thin. Whatever "cedar" wood components are reasonably more robust. Not even one full year, and I am facing necessary maintenance issues. No doubt, will do it for my furry friends, and fully winterize beyond what I already improvised. The roof is cheap plywood, and delaminates under normal Canadian (4 seasons); the cheap tiles buckle and offer no rain and snow resilience after one year.I am reverse-engineering this "made in China" product to better reflect our realistic 4-season Canadian environment. My cats agree with me!Take care, respect COVID-19 regulations, and keep loving our wonderful feline friends.I am totally impressed by this amazing outdoor cat shelter. It looks very nice. It's very well build, and it's a great value for the money. It comes extremely well packaged, so nothing was damaged. All the hardware was there; none were missing, which is a huge plus. I am the worse builder possible when it comes to assemble things like that, yet this one was so easy to install, that even I was able to do it without breaking anything, without having to dismantle and reassemble again, and without breaking anything - rather rapidly and without even uttering a single curse. I heartily recommend this product. The back door has a flap, but the front one doesn't. It's not necessarily a flaw, and it's easy to install a makeshift one. I has hole so that you can put a heating pad in there, and the interior is large enough that you can also add some insulation for the winter, and still leave plenty of room for a kittie or two. I recommend a second coat of weatherproof paint or dye in very damp areas. An amazingly well build, inexpensive and well engineered product. This is so cute. I love the flower planter box on the side. This arrived quickly was very easy to assemble. Decent quality product. I have purchased this to serve as a shelter for a small colony of feral kitties that I care for. I live in Canada so I will need to insulate it so the kitties can be protected in the winter. Its spacious enough for about 3 adult cats to cuddle inside. The front opening does not have a door on it so I will make a flap with carpet or install a doggy door. Over all I am very pleased with it and will probably order a second one. Update..bought a second one. Kitties are sleeping in them and I've had several compliments on how adorable they are.J’ai acheté cette maison pour en faire un cache litière pour mes 2 chats.
